Commission for

Both are witches of Rashemen, but belong to two different orders. Vanya (at winter side) is a hathran - the order that advises the Iron Lord, keeps the peace with the spirits and defend the land and the people against magical attacks. Grusha is a durthan - an order that opposes the hathrans and believes Rashemen should be ruled by a cruel and pitiless hand, its enemies wiped out completely in order to assure the land's safety. As children they grew up together in the Running Rocks, but even then they were like night and day.
